NEW FOR 2011

A plaque for outdoors has now been tested and will be shown at Rallies in 2011.  This plaque is made entirely from Western Red Cedar which is primarily used for long lasting house siding and fencing.
The plaque is assembled with  Brass Screws, Stainless Steel Pins and Waterproof glue.   The bike or trike is the same size as on our 17 inch signs.  The oval board is 16" on these Western Cedar plaques.   You can
place them outdoors unfinished or for added protection  and color you may want to add quality  deck or siding stains.   Click on Outdoor Plaques at the top of every page.

In 2010 we  created an exceptionally fine version of our very successful Bike Show Trophies.  7 Districts awarded our Standard version trophies in 2009.  In 2010, Region H, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, Virginia and Mississippi Districts awarded our trophies.  
Each of these Districts advertised their Bike Show and the fact that they would award a Woodwing Art "Best of Show" trophy.   The feedback received suggests that the effort increased enthusiasm, entries  and attendance at each bike show.

Welcome to Woodwing Art.   We are makers of very fine personalized wooden plaques for motorcycle enthusiasts.  Specializing in GL1800 Bikes and Trikes.  We also offer a wide variety of awards suitable for out going Officer positions or for that matter, anyone you want to show appreciation for.  We also have many other Goldwing related gifts and accessories, many of which may be personalized.  Our plaques are made from various woods, domestic and exotic, hardwoods and soft woods.   Also hardwood plywoods.  

Our plaques are designed for indoors and can be hung on the wall by their routed keyhole slot, or look good on a table with our specially designed easel.  They are proving to be popular with Goldwing Chapters as gifts and awards.  Numerous "COUPLE OF THE YEAR" signs in addition to "Chapter Director",  and "District Director" have been made so far.  They may be placed outdoors, but should never get wet or be placed in direct sunlight.

Mitch and Marie Kilgore, GWRRA Louisiana Chapter O, meticulously handcraft and finish each sign from laser and band sawed parts.  Laser cut parts are reassembled with contrasting woods in a process known as Intarsia. They are affixed to a plywood gluing plate which is secured to a solid 3/4 inch block of plywood.  The joints are stronger than the wood itself.   The bike or trike is then inlaid with Grade A abalone and mother of pearl shell for headlight, turn signal and rear lights. This assembly then receives a fine finish and is securely screwed to an oval shaped background within a matching raised oval ring.  This creates an attractive multi level sign that can be personalized with your name,  motorcycle affiliations or whatever you want. 

We will endeavor to put whatever names, slogans or affiliations on the sign that will fit.  The price includes the backboard, the WOODWING wooden motorcycle and all the letters and banners attached. 

old news........NEW FOR 2010 

For 2010 we continue to attempt to make our processes more efficient in order to bring to market a high quality product at an affordable price.  2010 brings us into our third year.  Everyone seems to agree that the look of quality is raised exponentially with the inlay.   To take this a step further Mitch has discovered techniques that allow him to inlay abalone shell into replicas of after market light bars.  The luminescense of the shell adds substantially to the total look of the product.  It adds an addtional dimension to each bike which needs to be seen in real life.  Pictures do not quite show the absolute jewel like quality of these objects of art. 

In addition to the light bars on our top quality bikes we have added a real ebony wood passenger seat grip.  This small detail also adds to the project in a subtle way.  The grip is left unfinished so contrasts nicely with the high gloss finish of the bike.  There are a few more "tweaks" that help in our process but for the most part the look is identical.  Our  inventory system is organized with each bike having its on VIN# deeply engraved on the back. 
The VIN# is marked on the back of the main block of the bike and will show on your invoice when you purchase  one.  This is a quality detail that does not show but may be seen by removing the bike from its oval background.  You need only remove the 3 screws in the back, center of the oval.

We intend to have a busy show schedule this year but have found that we need to sign up for Rallys at the last minute.  We have to stay home to build our products and unfortunately can't just stay on the road showing and enjoying the rallys.  We now trailer out '06 Goldwing to the Rallys so that we can join in the fun.
